Bijapur Bulls bats for greener and fitter cities

The team embarked on a drive that witnessed them flag-off a marathon and cycle down-hill from Chamundi Betta.

The Karbonn Smartphones Karnataka Premier League 2017 holds a special place in the cricketing calendar of the state. It is a time when the sport is celebrated with pomp and splendour. Bijapur Bulls recognises the essence of the tournament and is making the most of what it has to offer to spread vital messages that matter to society.

And just as the team advocates the philosophy of “One Team One Dream” while encouraging the players to play “no holds barred cricket”, it is also a vocal proponent for causes that involve fitness and the environment.

To this effect, the team embarked on a “Go Green” initiative on September 3 that included a heady flavor of fitness to boot. At 6.30am, Mr. Kiran Kattimani, the founder of Vivid Kreations (the only company to retain ownership of a single KPL franchise since its inception in 2009) and the team flagged off a “Celebration Mysore 10K & Half-Marathon”.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Kattimani said, “we’re thrilled to be here at this event and it’s wonderful to watch all of you come out in huge numbers to participate in this marathon. Fitness is a vital component of our day to day lives and it’s great to see Mysureans leading the charge“.

Post the flag-off, the team travelled to Chamundi Betta for a darshan of the Goddess Chamundeshari before embarking on their “Go Green” initiative which saw them cycle downhill to Mysore city from atop the Chamundi Betta.

On September 1, Marlin Bikes, a partner of Vivid Kreations and Bijapur Bulls, in keeping with the team’s core philosophy, had sponsored every player of the squad with a “Marlin Fatbike” bicycle.  Mr. Sandeep Seth, Managing Director of Marlin Bikes India echoed the sentiments of Marlin’s punch line – “a fat bike for a slim look”.

“Promoting a lifestyle with fitness at its core is paramount to us. We are proud to be associated with Vivid Kreations and Bijapur Bulls for the Karnataka Premier League and would like the players to use these bicycles and make cycling an integral part of their daily fitness regime”.

Mr Kiran Kattimani said the partnership will only bolster the “Go Green” initiatives of Bijapur Bulls. “Mysuru is leading the charge in environmental initiatives and we’re very happy to instigate this culture in our team and spread the message of fitness via eco-friendly drives such as this”.

Speaking after the cycling event, the players expressed their deep desire to continue the drive even after the tournament concludes. “We would like to thank Vivid Kreations and Marlin Bikes for involving us in this vital drive for cleaner and greener cities. Cycling is a wonderful habit and going forward, it is going to be a part of our daily routine,” said Rishabh Singh, a left-arm spinner with the Bijapur Bulls.
