In an expression of gratitude towards the Royal Family, the Vivid Kreations owned team met with Her Highness, Maharani Pramoda Devi at the Mysore Palace.
When likeminded individuals meet, the outcome is magical. Such was the camaraderie shared between the Late Maharaja of Mysore Sri Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar and Mr.Kiran Kattimani that Bijapur Bulls took form and was nurtured as a franchise. And over the years, the team – champions in 2015 – has continued to be a symbol of longevity and strength in the annual Karnataka Premier League (KPL).
Today, as an expression of gratitude to the Late Mysore Maharaja, the Vivid Kreations owned team, met with Her Majesty of Mysore – Maharani Pramoda Devi – at the Mysore Palace. The team, led by Head Coach Deepak Chougule, greeted the Maharani and shared with her the history of the franchise and its vision for the development of cricket in the mofussil regions of Karnataka.
While Mr. Kiran Kattimani’s commitments towards the opening ceremony of KPL in Bengaluru kept him from being with the team, his message was conveyed to Her Majesty by the team. “His Majesty, Sri Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, and I shared a common vision of nurturing talent at the grass root levels of the state. Our collaboration ensured that several youngsters flourished in the safe haven of Bijapur Bulls. His blessings and eternal guidance will always lead the path for us,” he said.
Her Majesty, when interacting with the team, was pleased to learn that the players hailed from the length and breadth of the state. “T20 is an exciting form of the game and it is fascinating to see youngsters making the best use of the platform made available to them. It is wonderful to see that this team provides an opportunity to players from the far corners of the state,” she said.
KC Cariappa, a cricketer who has grown through the Bijapur Bulls ranks over the years and gone on to earn accolades in the Indian Premier League (IPL), said the opportunity to meet with Her Majesty was a special moment. “To meet with Her Majesty and seek her blessings before the tournament starts was wonderful. I will always cherish this meeting,” he said.
Wishing the team well, Her Majesty said, “I wish this team the best of success in KPL 2017. Enjoy your stay in Mysore and make us all proud.”
The Bijapur Bulls start their KPL 2017 against the hosts, Mysuru Warriors, on September 4th at the Gangotri Glades.
