\Bharat Chipli is a Shimoga born right-handed batsman who has been a very popular figure amongst the local fans throughout his career. Chilpli’s love for the game began when he enrolled to a cricket camp in Bangalore and soon joined the famous Brijesh Patel Cricket Academy in the city.

As a teenager, he played plenty of Under-16, Under-19 cricket but it never crossed his mind that one day he will play in the IPL or play for Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy. According to Chipli, everything just fell into place and as one thing led to another, he was in the RCB squad for the inaugural edition of the IPL courtesy the efforts he had put in improving his skill set to become a better cricketer.

Chipli has numerous coaches to thank for his upbringing in the game but credits the famous coach in the city – Irfan Sait – for the opportunity he provided to represent clubs like Swatic Union CC and Jawans CC.

Chipli proved the doubters wrong and thrived when he represented Deccan Chargers in the 4th edition of the IPL where he amassed 207 runs with 5 unbeaten innings to his name. He continued to play in the IPL for a couple of more seasons but his last outing was for the Delhi Daredevils in the 2013 edition. That said, he has been a regular figure in the KPL.

Talk about KPL and Chipli is someone who has perhaps been the face of any side he plays for. In 2010, he played for Mangalore United and played an important role in their title-winning campaign. In the 2017 edition, he will be captaining the Bijapur Bulls in what will be his 6th KPL tournament. Over the years, he has contributed immensely to the marquee tournament and has 785 runs to his name.
