In the 2017 edition of the KPL Auction, Shekhawat fetched a hefty amount as he was auctioned for 3.5 lacs by the Bijapur Bulls after fierce bout of bidding.

Born and brought up in Bangalore, Shekhawat’s roots trace back to Rajasthan. He is a left-handed batsman and an orthodox left-arm spinner who has been in the Zonal fray for many years now. The left-handed all-rounder started his career as a batsman at the age of 13 and represented the Under-16 side as well. When asked about his journey through the youth ranks, he stated, “I played my Under-16 cricket here in Karnataka but I have represented Rajasthan for the Under-19, Under-22 and Under-25 categories. I am now back in Karnataka permanently and I am playing my first division cricket for Socials Cricket Club.”

The versatile Shekhawat plays as a freelance corporate cricket player to finance a part of his expenses while most of them is covered by his extremely supportive family that backs him every step of the way. When asked about his favorite cricketers, he was quick to reply, “Michael Hussey and Daniel Vettori are my favorite cricketers for the fact that I am a completely left-handed player. But on the national front, I admire Manish Pandey for his confidence and attitude and I also like Vinay Kumar for the commitment he showcases.”

Shekhawat is a very composed youngster and asserted calmly that his motto in life is to “Keep working hard and success will fall in love with you”. The all-rounder is all set to make a mark through the skill set he possesses in the upcoming season of the Karnataka Premier League.
