Current Team

Born in Sirsi, Karnataka, Rajat Hegde is a left-handed bowling all-rounder who has been nurtured in Bangalore. Hegde started playing leather ball cricket at the age of 14 and has experienced rigorous growth over the years. He now plays club cricket for Jupiter Cricket Association.

When questioned about the surge in interest for cricket, Rajat said, “I always loved playing cricket but I do not have any particular player who has inspired me. However, I am a fan of Ravindra Jadeja because he is a left-handed batsman and a slow left arm bowler as well. Apart from that, Manish Pandey fascinates me with his fielding abilities.”

Hegde has a packed schedule which includes waking up at 6:00am for the work out. He then attends his college and is currently into the final year of B.Com. He makes time for cricket practice in the latter part of the day. However, Hegde is adamant that he will be an entrepreneur in the near-future irrespective of his success in cricket. Talking about the upcoming KPL season, he added, “The support staff are pushing us constantly and there is concrete unity within the side. The seniors have bonded very well with the rest of the team and we want to win the KPL this season.”

Hegde’s team this year, Bijapur Bulls, will be led by Hedge’s club team skipper – Bharat Chipli – and they both play for the Jupiter Cricketers Association. Last month Chipli scored 141 runs in a match and Hegde simply ran through the opposition’s batting order to scalp 7 for 35 to help his side dominate the opposition after his skipper’s blitz. Hegde will be all set to replicate such performances in the upcoming edition of the KPL.
