Over the years, Karnataka has produced some great batsmen but one should not forget its bowling maestros as well. In a state with so much competition for a place in the State team, a promising young pacer’s resolute efforts paid off and Ronit More made it to the Ranji Trophy side in 2012 at the age of just 20. More was born on 2nd of February 1992 in Belgaum, Karnataka. He is a right-handed fast bowler who started playing leather ball cricket right from the age of 10 and was a regular amongst the youth ranks.
More has represented the Under-15s, Under-19s and also the Under-22 side for his state of birth and residence – Karnataka. In his debut season in the year 2012, More ended up with only 4 wickets in just the 2 matches he played. But in the successive season, More enjoyed more success as he picked up a total of 12 wickets which included his best bowling figures of 77/7 in a match against Haryana in Lahli.
More’s rapid growth can also be credited to the experience he garnered over 2 years at the MRF pace foundation in Chennai founded by legendary Australian pacer Dennis Lillee. After a strong 2013/14 domestic season, More was bagged by the Chennai Super Kings for his base price of 10 lacs and remained with the CSK till 2015. However, in the KPL, More had been a part of Belagavi Panthers since 2010 and possesses an outstanding economy of just under 7 runs an over in T20 cricket. For the 2017 season, he has moved to the Bijapur Bulls side and is looking forward to make a long-lasting impression.
In More’s brief First-class career, he has already represented 2 different states. After starting his First-class career with Karnataka, More joined Himachal Pradesh in 2015 and managed to pick up 4 wickets before moving back to Karnataka for the 2016/17 edition of the Ranji Trophy. His achievements away from the sport comprises of a Bachelor’s degree from Jain University, Bangalore.
